Step 03

ORGANISATIONAL
CULTURAL ASSESSMENT

Purpose

The Organisational Culture Assessment aims to help you understand how people experience working and playing sport under your organisation.

It does this by asking questions in relation to seven different cultural characteristics that help organisations perform at a high level and create a positive, safer environment for all:

  • Safeguarding, child and human rights prioritised
  • Accountability
  • Inclusiveness
  • Psychological safety
  • Learning
  • Transparency
  • Collaboration

To help you understand the importance of each characteristic and the link to a healthy safeguarding culture, you can read more here

After taking the Organisational Culture Assessment you will receive a bespoke report showing how different audiences within your organisation experience your culture, and access to resources to help you build a culture that promotes high performance and a positive, safe environment which is necessary for effective safeguarding.

Next Steps

Fill out this short form to request your organisation’s unique survey link. As soon as you have your unique link, you can start sharing it.

We recommend you share this survey with all of your staff, including volunteers, and your athletes to get a full picture of the range of perceptions about your organisational culture.

The survey will be open for responses for as long as you need - there’s a link to let us know when to close it, and then the bespoke report will be sent to you.

Request a Unique Survey Link

You have the option to integrate the Organisational Culture Assessment into an existing organisational survey by downloading the questions here.

If you choose to do this, you will not be able to receive a bespoke report and reflections plan.

Promotion

To get maximum participation in the survey, plan how you will promote it.

We recommend emailing it to all staff, including volunteers, and your athletes, and sending two reminders. Share the survey with managers, include it in team briefings and set aside time to complete it, and if possible, give an incentive to fill in the survey to get the highest participation rate that you can.

Tell people you will be sharing the results with everyone, and give them a date you will do this by, along with a culture action plan from the Senior Management Team.

Below is an example email you can use to promote the survey.

Thank you for completing this anonymous culture survey designed specifically for sport. It asks you to assess the health of our culture in 7 categories:

  • Safeguarding is prioritised
  • Accountability
  • Inclusion
  • Psychological safety
  • Learning
  • Transparency
  • Collaboration

It will help us to take stock of what is working and what we can improve in our culture, allowing us to compare our own assessment as a senior team with that of the rest of our staff, and our athletes.

For each question, please rate where you think the organisation is currently, based on your day to day experiences. Please answer honestly and openly. All responses are confidential. It should take 10-15 minutes to complete.

You can access the survey here: [paste your unique survey link here - this is emailed to you after completing the short form above]
